“Doctor’s Order” Green Juice
Here I’m sharing my version of the Doctor’s Order with a few IMPORTANT notes for anyone who’d like to try it!
Jack Lalanne juicer is not the best on the market, but good enough for this kind of juice except for one thing: it doesn’t juice well (actually, at all) any leafy veggie. Parsley is a key ingredient to this juice but please do not waste your whole bunch of parsley hoping that Jack Lalanne will juice it…it discards most of it leaving you with a few drops of juice.
Jack Lalanne is great for juicing veggies & fruits like cucumbers, celery, apples, pineapple, beets, carrots, etc… NOT leafy greens & veggies or fruits that do not have a high water content.
If your main concern is to juice spinach or kale, please get a masticating juicer instead. In my case, I juice all of the ingredients and, apart, I blend the parsley with a tiny bit of water and then pour the juice obtained right into the pipe of the juicer – this way there is no waste.
I love ginger so the dosage below is high for those who do not want to feel the “burning” in their throat. Reduce dosage if you wish to have it less gingery.
If you have a better juicer, you can add a few handfuls of spinach or kale, they won’t affect the taste (especially spinach)
The dosage below makes about 1.2L of juice: you need to refrigerate it and consume it within 2 or 3 days at the most, if you want to benefit of the exceptional high-vitamin content along with anti-inflammatory, cleansing, and digestive properties of the juice.
I suggest a good glass of this juice first thing in the morning (before you eat breakfast) for a great start of your day!

Instructions
- Wash very well all of the veggies & fruits.
- Chop the bottom & top ends of the cucumbers & celery, then cut the cucumbers & the longer stalks of celery into half (you don’t want them too long).
- Quarter the apples and remove the stem (and the seeds if you want, but not needed).
- Cut the lemons in half, or quarters if they are particularly large.
- Cut the ginger into pieces that can easily fit into the pipe of the juicer: I usually roughly peel the ginger and remove the dried ends but it is OK if you do not want to do this. The juicer will in any case extract the juice only
- Parsley: if you do not have a juicer that juices it well, place it in a blender with 50ml of water, then blend high speed till you obtain a juice with lots of pulp. You will either pour this juice into the pipe of the juicer or filter it and pour the filtered juice into the main juice obtained from the juicer.
- When everything is ready, you can start juicing all the veggies & fruits: I usually collect all the juice into a 4 cup carafe. It gets full before I am done juicing everything, so when it gets full, I pour the juice into a larger glass bottle and then keep juicing. Make sure you mix well all the juice obtained before you pour it into the final bottles so the taste will be consistent for all bottles.
- Refrigerate and enjoy!!
