Yoga & I
I met Yoga about 6 years ago, almost accidentally. I was looking for a new physical activity to practice during the long and cold Canadian winters and when I heard about hot yoga I thought it was the perfect way to get my body moving and warm!
With time, Yoga and I became friends, we would see each other every once in a while. At the beginning Yoga was more like one of those friends that you call when you need to feel challenged, when you go to the gym and you need some support, someone to push you out of your comfort zone. I was learning new poses, getting stronger, and I liked to challenge myself to get into more advanced poses. It was purely about the physical body.
Over time Yoga and I got closer, we started being more personal, share experiences on a deeper level. I started noticing how I was feeling better, not only physically but especially mentally. If I was stressed for work, or sad, after a yoga class I felt new energy moving through my body, I was able to remove some of the emotional blockages stuck in my body. I started asking myself questions that I had never asked myself before. I started questioning why I was doing things in a certain way or why I was taking certain decisions. I started to question who I really was. I started to be aware on a completely new way.
Fast forward to today.Yoga is more than just a friend, it’s part of who I grew up into. Yoga is a series of choices, habits and mindful practices that help me connect with my true self.
When I decided to do a Yoga Teacher Training my goal wasn’t to start teaching yoga, I just wanted to learn more about this incredible discipline that had taught me so much over the years. But then something changed. I realized that when you know how much something can change someone’s life, you can’t just keep it to yourself!
This is just the beginning of a lifetime journey, I have just scratched the surface of a discipline that is thousands of years old. My hope, is to keep learning and, with time, inspire more people to take a step inward, connect with their true self and bring a positive change out in the world.
In harmony,
